Brendan Stewart was passionate about photography long before Symbol Photography was formed. He went the self-taught route and won many accolades from the City Of Boston, his peers and was featured in the Boston Globe, Improper Bostonian and other publications early in his career. Since then, Symbol Photography has been featured in several wedding publications including Boston Magazine, Boston Bride, South Asian Bride and various blogs.
"Brendan is the character of Symbol Photography". He has an eye for things in holistic fashion. Never will you say - "I love that photo but I wish it was in a different background". The key to his shooting style starts with laying the foundation using traditional shots and poses and transforming them to look anything but traditional. This is one of the most difficult skills a modern photographer can learn to master.
"Our favorite clients are those that are invested in their photography and in turn, inspire us to be our very best."
Thuy (pronounced: Twee) is mostly a self-taught photographer that's been shooting long before she took any classes at Emerson College. She's a self-proclaimed nerd who loves her Adobe Creative Suite. She started in graphic design as a creative outlet and moved her way into photography. It's all history from there... she's been shooting weddings for the past 3 years and recalls memorable stuff from each and every one.
Her style can be described as structured, yet candid. Organic, yet all-encompassing. Thuy is all around laid-back and it lends itself to calming the nerves of the occassional jittery bride.s
"My favorite photographs are the ones that challenged me most as a person and second as a photographer". In her spare time you can find Thuy trying her hands at arts and crafts and interior decorating.
Jen graduated from a well known photography school and was very active in taking internships for several fashion/product photographers in New York before settling in Boston.
Jen is the shabby chic photographer. She's a polite Midwesterner, but knows when to elevate herself to get the shots that everyone wants. Jen has propensity for vintage elegance and it shows in her style, she is very organized, yet very candid in her approach. Jen possesses the 'small things in life' disposition that lends itself to getting those great little fleeting moments that pass in the blink of an eye on your special day. Her vast experience through school and internships and current professional portfolio exemplifies just how vast her skill set is.
Renu (pronounced: Ray-New) is our album designer. Renu has a long background in graphic design and is also heavy into arts and crafts in her spare time.
While each have taken very different paths, it is this amalgamation of style and methodology that ultimately benefits our clientele. They are all very different even in personality...
This convergence of style and approach ultimately lends itself to a complete memory of your special day. We look forward to working with you as much as we hope you look forward to working with us!
Symbol Photography has a sprawling 1500 sq ft studio in the heart of downtown Boston. We do most of our indoor sessions here and host small events with under 20 guests.
