Boston Winter Engagements Part Deux

It never ceases to amaze me that folks will do engagement sessions during snowstorms, blizzards and anything else that may arise. We love it. There is always something to be had in even the worst of conditions.

Blaine and Sam are up here from Texas, great couple, lots of energy. Sam didn’t even bring a jacket. We guess that nobody told him it was cold up here. But he did quite well for a Southerner, didn’t complain once!

Kali and Phil are like our dream engagement couple. Heavily invested in their photos, know what they like – have the ability to describe it. And are genuinely in love. What more can we ask for? I mean really…

And of course the requisite baby photos during winter. She’s a cutie isn’t she?

To start, Allison and Richard.
Just an awesome couple and completely down to earth, yet quirky, folks. Just the kind you hope for.
When Allison first revealed that her venue was Regis College, I’ll be honest and admit that, in my head, that I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, after shooting there, I was pleasantly surprised. Cool, Victorian-style furniture, castle-esque tower and a nice chapel (which they didn’t plan on using…) really made for an unique backdrop for their special day.

And in addition to all of that, there were mostly musicians in attendance and the music played a huge part in the day, which is never tough to take. Richard’s band surprised them both with a late night performance and it was the perfect meaningful, rockin’ way to end the night. AND…they had a Klezmer band playing there. (Not sure what a Klezmer band or music is? Don’t fret) Freakin’ awesome. I mean really, really cool.

They requested an ‘old tyme’ photo of themselves where they both looked rather unhappy. Hopefully this fit the bill:

And now, onto Rachael.
This little beauty is by far the happiest baby that’s been shot in some time. No cries, no complaints, no peeing on the props She was content and loved being in front of the cameras and the modeling lights. She did better with it than many adults do.

Ode to Joy, June & July

June & July always seem to be the craziest months, as it is for most wedding photographers. This year has been especially busy – 6 engagement sessions and 5 weddings in the past 6 weeks!

Time is at a premium right now and because there isn’t too much time to write too much at the moment, here are a few photos that have come from the last few sessions. Enjoy!

It was just a matter of time before Kenny and Connie had their first child. But who knew she’d turn out to be so cute! She normally sleeps all day, that was until it was time to have her first portraits done as a newborn.

It’s always nice to have fall weddings… the tempurature is more moderate. People in New England love fall so everyone is a bit happier. The very tail end of fall means one thing for us – Vacation! We should have known from the start that anyone with the name ‘Burke’ is going to be Irish and have roots in Boston and despite having made their way out to the suburbs, this family is no different. The Burke’s: Breann, Lauren, Debbie, Jim and Ryan were the most fun family a photographer could hope to encounter. They took Monopoly to a whole new level. So serious was their playing, I began to wonder myself if there was actual money and real estate at stake. Those pictures are to come soon but, for now, here’s part of the session:

Ella, the beautiful daughter of Shannon and Dave was our guest and curious subject this week at the studio in Boston for an infant photoshoot. And what an easy guest to please, considering all she needs are M&M’s and a chair to push around the room to be perfectly content.

This was a first.
We go to leave our Boston Photography studio and there is a road race going on outside. They’ve completely closed off the Jamaciaway and Centre Street heading into JP/West Roxbury. We’re off to a bit of a bad start. No problems, though – we leave early, we’ll be fine.

Well, neither Natalie or myself have ever been to Norfolk. The address is on Noon Hill. What you don’t know is that everything in Norfolk, Massachusetts is labeled Noon Hill. Needless to say, we went down the wrong road, but in our defense, it was very similarly named. We show up 15 minutes late. (a first for us), and apologize profusely.

Things quickly smoothed over as they saw the work and dedication we had to making sure their family photos rendered just as they asked for. We’ve decided to offer a sneak peek of a couple. Here they are and many more to come.
