A quickie from yesterday…

Note: Do this at your own risk. You need some sql skills in case your template has database settings.

Pre Steps: Locate the blu.php file in your file system, it’s typically in the path of the \\bluadmin\flash\blu.php so for instance, if you have the george template, it’s \george\bluadmin\flash\blu.php Secondly, retrieve the mysql database username, password and server hostname and database name.

Step 1. Log in using an FTP client. Locate the folder which holds all your files, for instance, i have the ‘George’ template. My main folder name was ‘george’. I copied down ALL the files in this directory to my local machine. This can take some time depending on the amount of files in your directories…

Step 2. Locate your provider’s mysql administration panel. (Note: this may vary depending on your hosting company and which control panel they are using. I won’t provide exact steps here as they may differ.) Do a complete backup of the database and download it.

Step 3. FTP the files in the same structure as before to your new host.

Step 4. Import your database backup to your new hosts mysql. Try to use the same database name as before as it’ll require less changes later.

Step 5. Go into the blu.php file mentioned earlier in the pre steps and retrieve the new info and replace it with your new mysql info and host names.

Step 6. you may need to got into the mysql database and do some queries to change some info if the bluadmin/ panel is not operational. Most of the settings are in tables either named ‘Settings’ or ‘Options’.

Step 7. Your blu admin control panel password will be the same as it’s hashed and stored in the database, typically.

Step 8. Enjoy moving the site yourself without having to wait 8 weeks.

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of shooting the Ward/Schultz nuptuials and Tiffany and Rob could give our engaged couples some lessons on how it’s really done on your wedding day. These two only had eyes for each other….no rain, no diners, no police, no cupcakes could tear their gaze away from the other. They completely handed the reigns of creativity over to us and let us drag them from Somerville to Medford and across the Mystic River to Arlington where they had a very unique, original event at the Arlington Library complete with all the non-traditional wedding fixins’, including an Indian menu, ‘geek’ cupcakes and Wii Tennis.
These are just a few ‘teaser’ photos. We’re looking forward to having more quiet time this week to spend with the images of these two fantastic couples. Cheers!

And since it was off-season, we were also able to stay at the Ashford Castle for a measly $230/per night. This hotel, during the regular season, costs almost $700 or more a night! I was lucky to be there at the right time. Pierce Brosnan had his wedding at this castle and all sorts of dignitaries have stayed there. In Dublin, my last stop, I stayed at another Castle, Clontarf Castle . Clontarf was quite nice, as well. Just outside of Dublin. However, it didn’t have the same ‘old school’, regal feel that Ashford did.

I headed to Derry and Belfast, and Northern Ireland has a much different feel than the rest of Ireland. Two things are tangible: the UK influence on the population and the air of angst in the city districts. There are also the equivilent of housing projects in these two cities and that’s where most of the murals exist. The political murals, essentially, give those that feel they have no voice, a voice via paintings and creative expression.

Anyhow, onto a few photos:

Well, neither Natalie or myself have ever been to Norfolk. The address is on Noon Hill. What you don’t know is that everything in Norfolk, Massachusetts is labeled Noon Hill. Needless to say, we went down the wrong road, but in our defense, it was very similarly named. We show up 15 minutes late. (a first for us), and apologize profusely.

Things quickly smoothed over as they saw the work and dedication we had to making sure their family photos rendered just as they asked for. We’ve decided to offer a sneak peek of a couple. Here they are and many more to come.

We’ve truly enjoyed working with all of our clients, but every so often, you have an opportunity to both create what a client is hoping for and also be given the time to give creative direction and capture the photos you were envisioning for them, as well. It was just the 4 of us, so it was a luxury to have their full attention.

This first one is a new processing technique we’re testing. If anyone has any likes/dislikes, please let us know. It looks a little flat, but it’s interesting in a grainy, weathered-looking way.
