Ode to July

June-July is always our craziest month. As it is for most wedding photographers. This year has been especially crazy… we’ve done 6 engagement sessions and 5 weddings in the past 6 weeks.

We don’t have time to write to much at the moment, so here are a bunch of photos we’ve been working on recently:

When we were first contacted Myra and Jackson about shooting at Astors Beechwood, we were super excited. How can one not be? The beach, the rocky shores, the elegance that comes along with such a location… Add to that the outwardly sincere they had for each other and it was destiny that we work together. They were hooked on our style and we were hooked on them.

The day of the wedding, we got to see first hand not only the love they had for each other, but also the love their parents had for them. Such a loving family and friends. They are quite lucky and we were quite lucky to be there and photograph such an event.

For now, we simply need to get through 2010. What a year – Newport mansions, Boston Waterfront, beautiful private clubs, booked for the entire year. It’s been fantastic. We are now soon to enter July. This is where we earn our stripes, especially considering the heat

…..well, if you can really call Southeastern MA and Newport, RI ’south’, than yeah, we went south.
First, for Pam and Dave’s wedding at Independance Harbor in Assonet, MA. Perfect, pristine grounds, a great love story and truly, the most proud father-of-the-bride I think I’ve ever encountered. Pam’s dad exuded happiness and pride and it almost brought tears to my eyes, meanwhile, Pam was cool, calm and collected and just plain ‘ready’ to marry her best friend.

And to folllow that beautiful day was an equally beautiful one, with Myra and Jackson at the Astor’s Beechwood Mansion in Newport, RI.

Myra was stunning and we were lucky to have the opportunity to capture her infectious laughter, her wide smiles and her happy tears, on camera. She and Jackson compliment each other in so many perfect ways and how fortunate that we got to witness that type of devotion to each other. And another first – Myra was the recipient of the best maid-of-honor speech I’ve ever heard. A beautful tale of their friendship and all the years that took them to where they are, today.

A cliche, sure.

But after seeing the photos, there isn’t a more apropos title. Madhuri and Brian took us and all their guests on a fun ride and we enjoyed all 3 days of it. Taj Boston was the perfect backdrop for tradition and some very contemporary themes.

Boston Union Club Wedding

Some of the most unique, stunning wedding spots are the ones that most don’t even realize they’re walking by.

As Boston wedding photographers, we’ve had the good fortune of working at a number of the private clubs in and around the Beacon Hill area and these spots, which almost always have the most regal, elegant interiors mixed with old-time Boston charm are usually, almost seemingly purposefully, understated in their exteriors. Most people will amble by, never realizing what those walls have seen and heard over the course of history.

The Union Club is one of these treasures of Beacon Hill and was the wedding destination for Jen and Steve. Dark wood, red velvet, massive windows and a view of Back Bay that rivals most, if not all of the spots in Beacon Hill and the Downtown Crossing area. They were a perfect fit here and committed to each other, officially, after many, many years together. From the quiet, private ceremony to the very public dance party that ensued, their wedding was one that will, surely, go down in the Union Club’s history books.

A Boston Summer Night

Well as you’ve undoubtedly noticed, being a 90′ day, summer is essentially here. And what a weekend. We started off with a 3 day hybrid Indian/Western Style wedding and topped it off with 2 engagement sessions.

We are riding high and 2010 has been and continues to be a fabulous year. Here are a few quick previews from our week. Enjoy.

Boston Union Club Wedding and Engagements

Well it certainly isn’t letting up anytime soon. As you can tell by the frequency of our posts, we are certainly well underway in the 2010 season. We haven’t had a free hour in the past 3 weeks. Which is fine for us, as the winter was quite boring.

First up, we had Jennifer and Steve’s beautiful and quite classy wedding at the Union Club of Boston Here are a few shots from there and Beacon Hill:

Secondly, we have Amanda and Dan… they braved going over fences, long routes to easy places and looking for phantom golf courses for us to find their locations. But we think the results were worth it:

Lastly, but certainly not least, we had Jennifer and Joe( Bill ) these two being North End locals, made it easy on us. We simply went around to some of our favorite areas and the parking gods were on our side as we got a spot in each location. Yay. Some photos:

Boston Chinese Wedding…

Every once in a while you are not only privy to, but also participating in an amazing wedding. Sandy and Henry had such a wedding. From the church to Lion Dance, it was anything but ‘traditional’. In fact it was one of the best we’ve ever attended.

With over 50 tables, it becomes difficult to find a Chinese style wedding venue. But they found it in Empire Garden. A converted old theater, it provided an amazing backdrop. The painted ceilings were fantastic and the old open style hall was a throw back to old times.

A great couple in great locations… it was a day to remember for everyone involved!

Boston Engagements Galore..

Well the season is in full swing, and we are quite busy.

As Boston Wedding Photographers, we can’t help but take a moment to reflect on the previous year… and what a year it was. 2009 was fantastic to us. 2010 is posed to be an even better year. Already in the first 4-5 months we’ve done some amazing shoots and are now, as of May 15th, booked for the rest of 2010.

What a weekend! Liz and Justin had a most picturesque Rockport, MA wedding. Few towns feel more New England-y than Rockport does and we were so excited to explore the village with them on foot and get some great Rockport shots and then head back to the Rockport Art Association for the ceremony and reception. It was such a great locale for their wedding and being surrounded by all the great painting and sketches easily adds a flair that the most perfectly designed wedding decorations and flowers work hard to achieve.

And if all the love on Saturday wasn’t enough, we topped it off on Sunday with Matt and Alyson’s engagement photography in the morning – followed by Colleen and Jim in the afternoon. We’re looking forward to their weddings this Summer and Fall……

Fashion Shoot, New York City’s Soho.

We had quite the shoot this weekend. We were lucky enough to shoot alongside Frank Doorhof in one of his infamous workshops. Here are a few shots from that day.

Getting married in the city can be exciting, vibrant…getting married in the city on Marathon weekend is all that – and brave. There is nothing easy about needing to drive down streets that are closed, traffic being backed up on the ones that are open; it’s the kind of city hustle and bustle that can make even the coolest limo driver anxious.

Forget the run – a Boston Marathon Wedding will make you sweat.

Luckily, Sandy and Henry were the picture of cool. From the beginning of the day when he, in traditional manner, asked for her hand in marriage until they were introduced into their 500 guest reception as Mr. and Mrs., they were calm, confident and crazy in love.
