Keri + Andrew
I get this semi-cryptic email from Keri asking me to do an engagement shoot and her time is limited to certain days etc. I start to wonder if this is going to result in a scam where i need to get a money order and bring it to a bank…
Turns out that they are both Marines and that she works as an ejection seat technician and only has a weekend to do the shoot. Wow, ejection seat tech? Yes, ejection seat tech. Anyone who knows me knows that i have a thing for military aviation. So i was intrigued.
No more that 2 days later, i start getting emails from this guy (Thus far i had only been dealing with Keri, so i had no idea who Andrew was.), and he says he’s going to propose to her and wanted to know my suggestion on working it into the session. Wow ok, now we are talkin’…
Of course there were heavy downpours the day of, but that didn’t deter us. I have a host of locations for just this sort of contingency. So we went around the city a bit, we had a code phrase (paraphrasing): ‘Andrew, i think you have something to show me…’ just before saying our phrase, i was telling them to pose, so Keri is looking at me and not even paying attention to the fact that Andrew has a ring in his hand and that he is now on his knee…
She looks away from me and looks back at Andrew… silence. Motionless. I could almost hear the gears turning in her head and she finally realized what was going on.

Keri and I are two very ordinary people who lived and are currently living an unordinary life style. We don’t have fancy clothes, nor do we desire them, we don’t have tons of money, but we manage just fine, we don’t live or strive for a glamorous life with glamorous friends or glamorous homes. We are simply two people very much in love that unfortunately spend a great deal of time apart and far away from each other. Of course it would rain on what would be one of mine and Keri’s most precious moments in life! Lol. I have to commend you on your efforts to find these locations that kept us out of the rain and made that evening possible. I can tell that you enjoy very much what you do, it shows in your work. You approached that session with enthusiasm and a passion that was truly instrumental and Keri and I thank you for that! You took Keri and I (two regular people) and made us feel welcome, special and like we were your only clients. And as a result from that, you captured some great moments with your keen eye and camera. Moments frozen in time for eternity. We look forward to working with you again in the future to capture more moments at our wedding in 2013,….If you so choose to except this mission
.
Thank you again
Sincerely,
Andrew and Keri
Truly beautiful photographs. I liked the background story too. Andrew has a keen eye himself for photos, has done some really beautiful work as an amateur, so if he is happy with your work it must be special. Job well done…Andrew’s mum
