Finally, the weather is starting to get warmer and not a minute too soon. It’s been a very long and heavy winter and everyone is excited to just be in sweatshirt mode.

Us included.

We love having the option of shedding down clothing to offer up different scenarios to our photos. Caroline and Matthew are a fantastic couple getting married at he Mandarin Oriental this year. They were a lot of fun and brought different outfits and we took them to a couple of our usual haunts and a few new new ones as well. They were looking for an authentic city feel and wanted to find little nooks that represented the area they live in and also the urban backdrop it provides.

Boston Winter Engagements Part Deux

It never ceases to amaze me that folks will do engagement sessions during snowstorms, blizzards and anything else that may arise. We love it. There is always something to be had in even the worst of conditions.

Blaine and Sam are up here from Texas, great couple, lots of energy. Sam didn’t even bring a jacket. We guess that nobody told him it was cold up here. But he did quite well for a Southerner, didn’t complain once!

Kali and Phil are like our dream engagement couple. Heavily invested in their photos, know what they like – have the ability to describe it. And are genuinely in love. What more can we ask for? I mean really…

And of course the requisite baby photos during winter. She’s a cutie isn’t she?

Last Boston Engagements of 2010

We spent extra time on our final two engagement sessions of the year. It’s bittersweet – while we certainly need the time off, we are also faced with winter and our impending retooling. 2010 has been a great year for us and we can’t wait for 2011. Facebook has really helped us stay in touch with all our clients and see them progressing and having children which we’ve also been shooting.

So we present you the final two sessions of our year. Now just two more weddings and 2010 is complete.

Daniela and Matt are our first couple. We did some fun stuff with them using low angles and using the remaining fall colors.

Jonah and Kara were our second couple. We also managed to get some pumpkins in, and of course the waterfront. Such a beautiful time of year…

For now, we simply need to get through 2010. What a year – Newport mansions, Boston Waterfront, beautiful private clubs, booked for the entire year. It’s been fantastic. We are now soon to enter July. This is where we earn our stripes, especially considering the heat

Boston Union Club Wedding and Engagements

Well it certainly isn’t letting up anytime soon. As you can tell by the frequency of our posts, we are certainly well underway in the 2010 season. We haven’t had a free hour in the past 3 weeks. Which is fine for us, as the winter was quite boring.

First up, we had Jennifer and Steve’s beautiful and quite classy wedding at the Union Club of Boston Here are a few shots from there and Beacon Hill:

Secondly, we have Amanda and Dan… they braved going over fences, long routes to easy places and looking for phantom golf courses for us to find their locations. But we think the results were worth it:

Lastly, but certainly not least, we had Jennifer and Joe( Bill ) these two being North End locals, made it easy on us. We simply went around to some of our favorite areas and the parking gods were on our side as we got a spot in each location. Yay. Some photos:

Boston Engagements Galore..

Well the season is in full swing, and we are quite busy.

As Boston Wedding Photographers, we can’t help but take a moment to reflect on the previous year… and what a year it was. 2009 was fantastic to us. 2010 is posed to be an even better year. Already in the first 4-5 months we’ve done some amazing shoots and are now, as of May 15th, booked for the rest of 2010.

What a weekend! Liz and Justin had a most picturesque Rockport, MA wedding. Few towns feel more New England-y than Rockport does and we were so excited to explore the village with them on foot and get some great Rockport shots and then head back to the Rockport Art Association for the ceremony and reception. It was such a great locale for their wedding and being surrounded by all the great painting and sketches easily adds a flair that the most perfectly designed wedding decorations and flowers work hard to achieve.

And if all the love on Saturday wasn’t enough, we topped it off on Sunday with Matt and Alyson’s engagement photography in the morning – followed by Colleen and Jim in the afternoon. We’re looking forward to their weddings this Summer and Fall……

Engagement Session II and The Netherlands

After the phenominal response we got to the first part of their boston engagement session.Here is the last part of the set from the engagement session we did with Sandy and Henry. We just loved the vibrant colors and attitude they both had towards the day. We strive to bring different and new locations to our photos. Sandy and Henry were naturals and fun to shoot. They were patient with us, especially setting up our ringflash haha, and even though they didn’t understand some concepts at the time of shooting, they trusted us and fell in love with their photos. Frank Doohof and Amsterdam Vacation

March Madness

Today wasn’t as unseasonably warm compared to the weather we had yesterday. But, the eagerness and dedication displayed by Henry and Sandy more than made up for it. We had a great time going to some new locations with these two and could only dream that all of our clients would go to the lengths that they did to ensure that our photos would be great.

A warm-spell in Boston Engagement Photographers winter lives…

The weather in February really couldn’t be more perfect than it was today. Engagement photography is such a treat for photographers – it’s a great opportunity to just co-exist, laugh and enjoy clients, with no distractions. And blue skies, mild temps and a couple like Jen and Neil make what would, typically, be just a simple session – sensational.

Winter photography in Boston can be challenging….color tends to be a bit drab and nature is still asleep for a few more weeks but we love catching all that people tend to overlook. The nooks, the corners, the crevices – that’s where the good photos are. Jen and Neil were so excited to explore the unseen and we’re happy to share a few. Can’t wait for August and we’re anxious to see what sort of ‘flashy’ situation Mr. Cervone concocts!

Distractions of a Boston Engagement Photographer

Talk about clients that can just drive you to distraction.
Picture it: Saturday, January 16. Two Boston Wedding Photographers just trying to do what they love and do it well with no interruptions and, in Richard and Allison’s case, ‘IT’ was their engagement photography. As luck would have it, Saturday was one of the warmest of the winter – which made being outside bearable for a January in Boston. However, it also made it more bearable for the rest of the world, so we had plenty of company and interested passerby! A little chilly, but a quick stop for some coffee and we were feeling good.

Brendan and I had our ideas, as usual, and Richard and Allison were up for everything we threw their way. Not some typical engagement photography destinations, but unique and so well-suited to these two, nonetheless. And just when I thought I couldn’t enjoy these two any more than I did after some coffee and great conversation and a few laughs, they mentioned getting some shots at their favorite used record store.
Finally. A client that wanted to go record shopping during their session.

The perfect diversion and distraction. I’ve been waiting for you, Richard.

And so after spending some quality-time with Shepard Fairey, having some fun city steps and some city lights, Father Miles Davis – in all of his jazz wisdom – looked down over this couple, presided over this engagement photography session and blessed this union.

…and lastly, I just love the boots. Had to sneak in a photo of those.
