Boston Wedding Photographer Blog Holly + Ryan

Holly + Ryan

Doing this for many years, we’ve photographed many amazing couples in love… …But never have I witnessed a couple that adored each other so much. It was almost reminiscent of the ‘Shmoopy’ episode on Seinfeld, where at first it was cute, then you wanted to kill them. Except, with this couple, you realized it was real and it wasn’t an act. During a speech by a close friend, he mentioned that he realized they were meant for each other when with a group of friends, Holly was trying to tell a story but forgot a particular piece of the story and Ryan insisted they give her a minute to remember that part of the story. It was a nice speech. When Holly first contacted us, I thought she was a scammer! She emailed me stating that she was just proposed to in Paris under the Eiffel Tower and that they went on vacation to Israel and found a priest there that would be presiding over the ceremony. So I’m sitting here – “Ya, right… any other parts you want to add to this elaborate concoction?“ But true to life – they were real and so were their stories. Turns out that was just the tip of the iceberg… for Ryan’s bachelor party, he took his groomsmen to Nicaragua to re-enact some wartime stuff that occurred down there. Crazy, but awesome. Working with Holly and Ryan was fantastic, their energy and adoration for each other really made our jobs easy. Their wedding began at the Harvard Memorial Church and ended at the Boston Harvard Club Wedding, Downtown. I told these two that they should start a blog of their endeavors…. I’d follow it. (See two photographs at the bottom of this post.) Why they need a...

Kristen + Mike

Kristen and Mike had a very intimate and regal XV Beacon Boston Wedding. The rooftop overlooks all of Beacon hill in its fall glory. Hard to ask for anything better than that. The XV Beacon Hotel is a beautiful hotel right in the heart of downtown Boston. Pair that with award winning restaurant and wine cellar Moo. We had a beautiful day around Post Office Square and Beacon Hill proper. They were a fantastic couple to work with and we wish them the very best in their...

Caren + Dan

Caren and Dan had a beautiful Peabody Essex Museum Wedding. When we first did a walk through, i couldn’t see it in my mind. But when we arrived at the day of the wedding – holy smokes! What an amazing venue with fabulous up-lighting and beautiful decor. I started out with Dan and Thuy started with Caren. Seeing couples around their family really gives you insight into that family, even if only for a few hours and witnessing how great Dan’s parent’s were, it really made us realize what a great family they are. After going through Caren’s photographs you can see the same thing. Another perfect merging of families. We love it. We did their engagement session several months ago and hit it off immediately. They dealt with the cold weather and we tried to make Boston look a little more warm… We spoke about some locations around the city and when Dan mentioned he had a hookup for One Post Office Sq. I said let’s do it! So with the sprawling white marble lobby we were able to finally fulfill the dream of photographing in that lobby. No longer did we have to drool while walking/driving by it, like a little kid passing by a Toys R Us. The wedding turned out amazing and we highly recommend this venue, what a beautiful day it...

Boston Wedding Summer’s End...

This summer has turned into a photographer’s dream. We’ve shot quite a few weddings and engagements and babies. We are falling a little bit behind in our blog postings and we promise to have some amazing content very soon. We are currently in the midst of two Indian weddings which are three days each. We promise to have more soon! For now, enjoy this quick preview of what’s to...

Alessandra + Bruno

Boston Seaport Wedding – Alessandra & Bruno Wedding Alessandra and Bruno are that quintessential down-to-earth couple every Boston wedding photographer hopes they get. Easy to pose, smile a lot, natural movement in public spaces. They make our job easy and that was just during the engagement session! Alessandra and Bruno had a Boston Seaport Wedding, on a 95′ summer day. But they certainly handled it like champs. We went out to take some photos nearby in the seaport district and while it was certainly hot, they kept their composure and realized that the photographs were very important to them. Both have beautiful and caring families, (Hell, I shed a tear when her dad gave his heart-felt speech). Not a dry eye in the room… and to have a 20 person wedding party goes to show just how many close friends they both have. It was a beautiful day and we congratulate Bruno and Alessandra! Boston Seaport Hotel...

Karen + Ryan

It’s not every day you photograph a history buff’s wedding, err make that x 2. Yep, Karen and Ryan both are big in to history, from the choice of their venue, to the books decorating their tables even in the gifts they give. Ryan was given a WWII styled watch that soldiers used for coordinating missions. Pretty cool. We started at the beautiful St. Ignatius church where at B.C. Karen and Ryan met. We then went to the Robert Treat Paine Estate in Waltham. The minute you pull up to the Estate (Assuming you can find it, it’s quite hidden.) you know you are in for a treat. (Pun Intended). Fantastic location with nice natural light and old world charm. Enjoy the photographs and congratulations to Karen and...

Joel + Sarah

Sometimes when you run a business you get prank calls. Just part of the territory. I’ll oftentimes have fun with them… when i got Joel’s email with 3 different names and a long distance phone number, i first thought he was a spammer. But his grammatical spectrum was far too good for that. When we finally met, i realized they were down to earth normal folks. What a relief! Joel is attending MIT and Sarah his Fiancee was here for the weekend in from Singapore. So we had to make this session count. Only, it was last friday. Yes, that last friday, you know, the one where we had consistent downpours? I told Joel not to fret, it’ll probably just pass. (Being Boston and all…) When it came to 5pm, that’s when i realized i may have to call this off. But sure enough, 5:30 rolled around and the skies cleared up quite nicely! I have no problem shooting in the rain, but i prefer not to if i don’t have to. Anyhow, enough story telling, onto the photos… Symbol Photography 437 D Street Boston, MA 02210...

Holly + Brett

We don’t shoot in Gloucester/Rockport enough, we love shooting up in these breezy oceanfront towns. Having weddings in these areas means that you have access to beautiful ocean-backed locations and oftentimes beautiful parks as well. The city is my heart, no doubt, but just once in a while, it’s nice to get out also. Holly likes to write and in our correspondences, it was evident that she wanted her day to be perfect and we went back and forth a few times trying to ensure that it would go as smoothly as possible. And smoothly, it went. We did a first look at Stage Fort Park and did most of the wedding party photos there as well. They have these awesome carved rock stairs and ocean views and it was an amazing backdrop for our photographs. Holly and Brett held their ceremony at St Anne’s in Gloucester. And their reception at the Gloucester Cruiseport in the center of Gloucester. Courtney + Andries

Courtney and Andries are dream clients. No muss no fuss. They had a beautiful wedding at the Seaport hotel in Boston. Being almost across the street from our studio, who are we to complain. Toss in a side of Dutch and Armenian and we’ve got ourselves a wedding! Courtney and Andries had their ceremony at the beautiful St. John’s the Evangelist church in Canton. Beautiful church with amazing light coming through the stained glass windows. They hired a classic Cadillac which i thought was one of the nicest classic cars I’ve seen. Don’t get me wrong, Rolls Royce’s are de rigueur. But the Cadillac really stood out. Lovely. Lastly, but certainly not least… in addition to the great Flipside Band, they also hired a traditional Armenian band. A tribute to Courtney’s grandfather, whom apparently was a very famous Armenian musician. They were fantastic and really got the crowd going. Eva + Keith Engagement...

We headed down to NYC for Eva and Keith’s engagement shoot. I’m glad to announce that i can report back some sage advice… 1. Never trust someone’s estimate of how long it will take to drive somewhere if they don’t own a car in the city. 2. Don’t trust your GPS, it’s a vile machine that only lies to you. Torture. Needless to say we started 30 minutes later than we had planned. But it was worth it, the timing was perfect, we got the perfect sunset, perfect timing for less people in our backgrounds. (Not an easy thing to get in NYC). So it all worked out great. Enjoy the photos! Eva and Keith are getting married at the Steiner Studio, Stage 6 in Brooklyn later this...

Caren + Dan

Caren and Dan. It takes an Architect to appreciate some of the backgrounds of my images. I scour this fine city at all times… It’s a sickness. And I’m fairly certain that both Dan, the architect and his soon to be wifey Caren both appreciated some of the backgrounds we got on their engagement session. For this engagement session i went a bit more on the ‘creative’ side, always trying to capture something new. This one had lots of motion in the background....

Andrea + Jared

Vintage, retro. Check. Andrea is a photographers dream. She went totally retro with the sleeved gloves and bird cage veil, she even threw in a mink coat for good measure. Freakin’ awesome. Their style and hiring Gracie Lou Events planners went a long way to ensuring their day was absolutely perfect. We had just over an hour with Andrea and Jared in Salem and couldn’t have asked for more… sunset, beautiful waterfront and fall color. We were in heaven. Upon scouting, we found this really cool white wall and black signage which we felt spoke to the classy simplicity of Andrea’s attire and decided to take some shots there in addition to the waterfront. Salem is really underrated for photography. There are lots of cool things to capture in Salem. And the old architecture in the fall really provides us some great backdrops. Andrea and Jared’s wedding ceremony took place at the Immaculate Conception Church of Salem. A beautiful church with lots of light and close to the Hawthorne Hotel. And they held their reception at the Hawthorne Hotel. The Hawthorne was very nicely decorated by Elizabeth at Gracie Lou Events and it shows in the photos....

Valerie + Erik

When Valerie came in to a consultation with her mom, a photographer herself… I knew we had a lot to live up to. After going over all the details of Valerie and Erik’s day, it became apparent that they put a premium on their photography and wanted the very best that we could deliver. We love clients like this, give us a minimum of an hour and we promise you some amazing photographs that you will cherish for a lifetime! Luckily with Valerie and Erik, we had two hours and we were in the heart of the city. So it wasn’t hard for us to get some great shots in and around Faneuil Hall. Valerie and Erik had their ceremony and reception at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Boston. It was a semi-traditional Jewish ceremony with an awesome home-made chuppah, made of what appeared to be birch tree trunks and was just awesome. We love shooting at the Millennium Hotel, it’s a great location and also very challenging for any photographer as the glass ceilings are difficult to shoot against. But as you can see in the photos, we make it work. We wish Valerie and Erik a happy and healthy marriage Valerie and Erik’s day, it became apparent that they put a premium on their photography and wanted the very best that we could deliver. Megan + Sree

Boston Indian Wedding Photographer Megan and Sree. Succinct, mindful and fun to be around. We love weddings at the Boston Seaport Hotel. Especially Indian weddings! Well, half ones are ok too. What a great blend of traditions and fun. I give Megan all the credit in the world. She and Sree both went to learn how to dance Indian dances, she learned the culture and learned all sorts of nuances that came in handy the day of her wedding. I’ll try not to babble on with these two, let’s let the photos do the talking! We are proud to be one of the top Boston Indian wedding photographer, contact us for a quote...

Caroline and Matt’s Wedding...

Caroline and Matt had their wedding at the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel. What a great location to have a wedding. They really go above and beyond for their weddings… I’ve never seen anything like it. Caroline and Matthew were very chill and laid back and with everything being covered by the Mandarin Oriental i can see why. Caroline and Matt are that couple that most photographers wish for. Laid back, chill and they just let you do what you do best....
